That Was Fun!

Not even the wettest Spring in memory could dampen the enthusiasm of the hundreds of former students and staff who returned to King in May to help celebrate the school's 50th anniversary. Undoubtedly the rain kept the numbers down some- what; neverthelessn many, many former students came from all over, from Thom Moore [1979] in Australia to Irene Alexander [1990] in Quebec, to reminisce and catch up on what their friends are up to.

Gary Maynard [1973] from Newfoundland has never misssed a reunion, while classmate Peter Paterson from BC attended his first. James [Jim, 1964] and Don Rushton [1966] had smiles on their faces the entire two days. Current Music department head, Tom Walker [1983] had his Sr. Concert Band in fine form on Saturday as they played a revamped version of the school song at the official ceremony and had people in tears, while former staff member, Royce Nettleton, curently with the Governor General's Horse Guards, provided a nice touch along with a fellow "guardsman" outside the school in the morning. The reunion committee had a lot of support from dozens of student volunteers and current staff members, especially Brian Raposo. Brian, unfortunately, had his dream of a classic car show wiped out by the rain but nevertheless he and other teachers worked diligently to ensure that this reunion would be long remembered by those in attendance.
